LIPOSUCTION OR LIPOASPIRATION
Liposuction, liposculpture or lipoaspiration is a surgical procedure to remove fatty buildups in various regions of the body e.g. neck, arms, belly, hips, love handles, thighs and knees. This is a relatively safe and simple technique that is available to both men and women.
Laboratory tests are routinely carried out before the procedure, which can be performed while the patient is under local or general anesthetic.
The fat is removed using very fine cannulas that enter through small incisions in the skin folds.
Convalescence:
Some bruising and swelling will appear around the operated regions. These subside in fifteen days. A dressing will need to be worn day and night for 4-6 weeks depending on the individual.
Anyone in normal physical condition can be considered for liposculpture. Given that the post-operative effects are minor and only slightly painful, the procedure usually requires a stay in the clinic of 24 to 48 hours.
The results:
The quality of the results depends on the elasticity of the skin but the full benefits can usually be appreciated after 3 months.
